Product Formalisms for Measures on Spaces with Binary Tree Structures- Representation, Visualization, Application

Abstract:
A theorem due to Fefferman, Kenig and Pipher guarantees that measures on the unit interval can be represented by a multi-scale product formula. We will point out the very general nature of that theorem and illustrate its application to characterization of realworld network and sensor data sets. The representation work is a collaboration with Devasis Bassu, Peter Jones, David Shallcross. Rauf Izmailov collaborated on the applications.

Bio:
Dr. Linda Ness is a mathematician and computer scientist who has collaborated with researchers at Applied Communication Sciences and Yale Professors Peter W. Jones and Vladimir Rokhlin on multi-scale representation of high-dimensional dimensional data. In July of this year she was the co-organizers of a workshop on Mathematics in Data Science at ICERM, the NSF Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics.
