Generalized morphologic transformation and its applications
Dr. Wenyu Liu, Associate dean and Professor in Dept. of Electronics and information Engineering, Huazhong Univ. of Sci. and Tech. Wuhan, P.R.China
How to describe non-rigid body motion and metamorphosis, which includes 3D arbitrary object metamorphosis, interpolation between keyframes in 2D computer animation, model-oriented image coding and so on, is more and more important with the development of virtual reality, industrial simulation, science computing visualization and virtual man-machine communication. Generalized morphologic transformation are proposed by decomposed object into convex subsets, non-rigid body motion can be divided non-rigid body metamorphosis and local rigid body rotation. The subsets are matched through approximately skeleton. Generalized morphologic transformation can be applied to and make significant progress in solving problems in the fields of 3D object construction, Chinese font composition, image feature extraction.
