Prof. Zoran Obradovic is elected as a new chair of the SIAM Activity Group on Data Mining and Analytics (SIAG/DMA)

Prof. Zoran Obradovic is elected as a new chair of the SIAM Activity Group on Data Mining and Analytics (SIAG/DMA). The purpose of the activity group is to advance the mathematics of data mining, to highlight the importance and benefits of the application of data mining, and to identify and explore the connections between data mining and other applied sciences. The SIAG/DMA organizes the yearly SIAM International Conference on Data Mining (SDM) which is ranked second, after KDD, in the number of citations per paper (see http://www.kdnuggets.com/2013/11/top-conferences-data-mining-data-science.html). In addition, the SIAG/DMA organizes minisymposia at the SIAM Annual Meeting, and maintains a membership directory and electronic mailing list.
