Creating and analyzing co-participation networks

Huzefa Rangwala, George Mason University

Abstract:
The past decade has seen a massive rise in web services and social networks that allow users to create, collaborate, and share varied forms of data in the form of articles, pictures, videos, links and status messages. In this talk I will discuss a model to establish a co-participation network using comment information on Digg.com. I will follow this with a description of a system that improves the network latency, associated with popular content. I will also describe our work related to analyzing co-authorship networks, like DBLP to detect communities, determine influential neighbors and predict node labels within the collective classification framework.
